Lazio chief Tare: De Vrij will leave at end of season

Manchester United Liverpool and Arsenal are all interested in Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij

The Dutch centre-back has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, where he would link-up with global team-mate Virgil van Dijk in the Reds' back-four.

The Serie A outfit have confirmed that De Vrij will move on in the summer and it's understood the Premier League's giants are ready to battle it out for his signature.

Given that Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk in the winter transfer for £75 million, it would be great business if Jurgen Klopp built on that by signing de Vrij as his partner.

A number of clubs have been interested in the 26-year-old but a deal has yet to be formally agreed with any side.

"I have not said it before: I think Lazio is withdrawing the proposal it made to Stefan for reasons we will tell you about later", he told Italian broadcaster Premium Sport. There's a limit and that's been breached, and it's now become a question of correctness.

"He has been an exemplary professional and we thank him for that as well as what he'll do until the end of the season".

'Unfortunately we were not able to find a satisfying agreement for both parties due to various reasons. "Better to look ahead". We've grown a lot and we will continue to grow.

For months De Vrij had reportedly been on the verge of signing a renewal, which would have included a buying clause of around €25m, but the longer things went on the more likely an exit has looked.

In December it was reported Liverpool had made an offer, that would have been to the player.

De Vrij's form for Simone Inzaghi's side has seen him attract interest from a host of top clubs across Europe.

However, according to The Daily Mirror, United are in pole position to land the highly-rated De Vrij.
