Couple escapes capsized boat off John's Pass, loses everything

Couple sell everything for sailboat sink 2 days in Colorado 1122018

While Tanner and Niki figure out what's next, they aren't giving up on their adventure, "our dreams didn't sink with the boat", said Niki.

A Colorado couple says the sailboat they sold everything to buy sunk off Madeira Beach, Florida on the second day.

They said they purchased the boat for $5,000 and spent another $5,000 preparing it for the voyage while living at Mar Marina in Tarpon Springs.

On the evening of Wednesday, February 8, the inexperienced sailors were heading to dock at the small fishing village, John's Pass.

They later returned to the ship wreck and found the 28-foot-long boat submerged in water.

They spent almost $10,000 to buy and upgrade the 49-year-old boat, which they sailed along the Gulf Coast from Alabama to Florida.

An old sailboat symbolized a new life for a Colorado couple who relocated to Tampa Bay.

"Our dreams didn't sink with the boat", said Walsh. "It's just floating away and there's nothing I can do", said Nikki Walsh.

Bristol Palin and husband Dakota Meyer call it quits
Meyer last posted a photo of him and Palin together with the children on Instagram on January 7 with the caption "What matters". Sources told TMZ the couple, who have been married since 2016 and have two daughters together, are no longer living together.

The couple says it was a traumatic moment, watching the Gulf water rush inside and destroy everything they had. "I just lost everything I ever owned".

Walsh said they could only grab a few essentials, and put on their life jackets before they called for help.

The couple told WJAX they are staying with a family member in Jacksonville Beach until they can find another boat and get back on the water. When the tow boat finally reached them, the pair had to jump into the water abandoning their vessel.

"I'm not going to give up now, I'm going to get another boat down the road".

In April 2017, they sold everything they had - including Mr Broadwell's SUV and used that money to buy the boat.

"We can't just give up on our dreams".

Keen showed ABC Action News the capsized boat Friday night, still peeking over the Gulf waters.
