Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard: 'Rivalry back on' with New England Patriots

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh Mc Daniels watches warm ups prior to an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos Sunday Nov. 12 2017 in Denver

It wasn't a change of heart.

Josh McDaniels will not be the next HC of the IC. Because if the guys that were rumored to be leaving from New England with him, they were planning on packing it up and going, too. He's an easy interview in Indianapolis now, and he's surely one of the aforementioned candidates who is ready to interview right away.

While it looks like McDaniels is forfeiting the chance to head coach in the league again, there has to be a good reason as to why he made a decision to suddenly back out from a job he signed up for.

Meanwhile, offensive coordinator Frank Reich was considered to be a candidate for the Titans before they chose Mike Vrabel as their coach.

"You can bet we're going to get there", he said.

The Patriots will be fine without Patricia.

While he has not yet publicly discussed his retirement plans, he is not likely to be in the job for much longer. And McDaniels knew that. Instead, it seems that McDaniels used the meeting to tell Irsay that he needed more time to mull over his decision.

From a business perspective - and football is a business, after all - McDaniels played it perfectly.

Twitter Records First Ever Quarterly Profit
Twitter said the change at first did in fact encourage people to write longer posts, but it turns out there was no need to panic. In large part, the company blamed its modest MAU figures on continued efforts to curb spam, fake accounts, and other bad actors.

Football wise, the Patriots have been the Colts' daddy for almost a decade now. And the Patriots had no choice but to not let him leave the building.

According to Schefter, McDaniels had already been reconsidering the agreement and had not signed a contract with the Colts yet.

All indications are that McDaniels went to work Tuesday morning with the indication of packing up his office and flying to Indianapolis.

There is speculation McDaniels is considered Belichick's eventual head coaching successor with the Patriots. The team even had a press conference scheduled for Wednesday to introduce its new leader.

The Patriots gave McDaniels an offer he couldn't refuse. "He's not your head coach, thank God".

Campbell has been in New Orleans for just one season after taking over as the Assistant Head Coach and tight ends coach in the offseason.

McDaniels gave up a chance to coach Luck to remain with Tom Brady, who'll return for his 19th season at 41. He just wanted a better deal for him and his family.
