Eurostar will be running two services a day from St Pancras International, departing at 08:31 and 17:31 respectively, with one-way fares starting at £35.

Eurostar will begin direct services to Amsterdam on April 4, with the route from London going through Brussels and Rotterdam before arriving in the Dutch capital three hours and 41 minutes later. The Amsterdam - London service would not set down passengers at Brussels South with boarding only permitted at this station.

More than 4 million passengers a year fly between London and Amsterdam, making it one of Europe's busiest air routes as the Netherlands grows in popularity as a key business and tourism hub. Tickets will go on sale from 20 February when the inaugural service will take place.

Since 1994 when Eurostar trains first connected London and Paris, travel between the two cities, including rail and air journeys, has doubled.

Senate deal would avoid shutdown as funding fight turns to House
Jeff Flake of Arizona, Bob Corker of Tennessee and Steve Daines of Montana said they would oppose the plan over spending concerns. The bill faced similar opposition in the House from fiscal conservatives who saw it as a broken promise to their base.

Trains from the United Kingdom capital will take slightly over three hours to reach Rotterdam and a further 40 minutes before arriving in Amsterdam, Eurostar said Friday. "With a £1 billion investment in our new state-of the art trains and enhanced connectivity on the European network, passengers can now enjoy fast, seamless rail connections between Britain and mainland Europe and a transformed travel experience".

This stop is a temporary measure until the governments of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands reach an agreement on passport checks at departure from the Netherlands similar to those on the other main Eurostar destinations, the company said.

Eurostar said that by 2019 the return journey should become truly direct, with both British and Dutch governments agreeing to put proper checks in place. These customers will see their journey time cut by 17 minutes as the time onboard is reduced from 2hr05 to 1hr48.
