Naked passenger prompts Seattle-bound plane to return to Alaska

Aircraft takeoff

While the crew told Police that they had to return as the man started to ignore their instructions, some statements by passengers indicate that there was more to this. CBS Anchorage affiliate KTVA-TV reports the plane returned to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport while flying near Prince William Sound.

A naked plane passenger locked himself in a bathroom and forced a Wednesday morning Alaska Airlines flight bound for Seattle to turn around and land in Anchorage. "Flight attendants did find that the subject was naked". The reboarded flight took off for Seattle just after 6:30 a.m.

Airport police and Federal Bureau of Investigation met the plane when it landed shortly before 3 a.m. Authorities did not release his identity. Flight 146 arrived at Anchorage International around 2:45 am and was met by law enforcement officers at the gate.

According to KTVA, airport policemen and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents responded to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport at around 3 a.m. after the disturbance forced Flight 146 to return to its port of departure. "The passenger was escorted off the flight by officers", said Thompson. It is unclear whether the man was arrested.

The man locked himself in the airplane bathroom and took off all his clothes.

Kate Danyluk, a passenger on the flight, spoke to the Associated Press about the experience, claiming that she suspected that something was wrong when she noticed flight attendants walking through the aisles and putting on rubber gloves.

According to KTVA, federal officials say no charges have been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.

"I'd rather go back to Anchorage than have something happen", she said. A spokesperson with Alaska Airlines told the news organization that no emergency was declared when the decision was made to return to Anchorage.

The incident is definitely not a good news to the carrier that is already under scanner after one of its pilots pleaded guilty for piloting a plane under the influence of alcohol. No injuries have been reported among the 178 passengers on board the flight.
