House Republicans Release Video Explaining FISA Memo

5 false or misleading statements in the media this week

They accuse President Trump of threatening national security by releasing the memo and attempting to interfere with the Russian Federation investigation by using the memo as pretext to fire special counsel Robert Mueller. They wanted the judge to renew a warrant allowing them to spy on Carter Page, who had been a volunteer in Trump's campaign.

"The significance of a possible Federal Bureau of Investigation recording depends on the exact content of the conversation between Bannon and Page, about which Page has been vague", the report noted.

Steele's dossier says Page attempted to trade the lifting of US sanctions on Russia for a stake in Russian energy firm Rosneft.

Former independent counsel Kenneth Starr said "there always should be honesty and transparency" when the executive branch requests a surveillance warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court.

The memo also claims that, "before and after Steele was terminated as a source", which by the way was, according to the memo, because of unauthorized disclosure to the media of his relationship with the FBI, Steele "maintained contact" with the DOJ through then-Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr. He said he was anxious about "political redactions...."

Since the release of the GOP memo from the House intelligence committee, the burning question has been: Did the FBI and Justice Department tell a federal judge enough about Steele's political bias and Democratic funding? "Somebody has to watch those who watch us", Graham concluded.

It's unclear what else was disclosed.

De Villiers back in squad for last three ODIs against India
Kohli's two hundreds in the series so far has India high on confidence but there may still be some issues they'd want to address. The thought process is one of accumulation through the middle overs after a hectic start and then exploding in the death overs.

Politics aside, Congress is prying loose - and making public - highly secretive information about how the government uses its surveillance powers. In a conversation, he told a source he expects the White House to approve the release of a House Intelligence Committee memo.

Namely, the memo revealed that Page, a US citizen, was monitored for almost a year after a judge four times over found probable cause that he likely was acting as an agent of a foreign power. Should it end the Russian Federation investigation against Trump, does it add to the debate or is it much sound and fury, signifying nothing?

The GOP report elliptically discloses that the Page surveillance was supported by other documents besides the Steele dossier, and that the Trump-Russia investigation was primarily sparked by FBI concern about George Papadopoulos, another former Trump foreign policy adviser.

The criminal referral on Steele had previously been classified.

Even with these disclosures, it's still hard to judge the accuracy and completeness of what Republicans are releasing.

Unless some absolutely vital national security issue exists, Trump should release the entire memo.

Why? None of the underlying materials have been made public. In addition to the initial warrant, three renewals were sought and approved by the FISA Court. "Steele has admitted in British court filings that he met with Yahoo News and several other outlets in September 2016 at the direction of Fusion GPS".
