Google Chrome 68 will label unencrypted websites as "not secure"

Google Chrome will soon start marking lots of websites as “not secure” 0

Starting in 2015, Google began its watchdog campaign to make security a key component of its Chrome browser. These date shows the protected websites on the Google Chrome.

Over the course of the past year, the company began marking sites still using Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) as not secure to help its users better understand that the secure version of HTTP, HTTPS offers more protection by adding an extra layer of security through SSL when sending data.

If you have been running a website without the secure HTTPS encryption, it is time you adopt the protocol. If you are not aware about protecting your website, you can follow the official setup guidelines offered by Google for your website.

With Chrome 68, it will be easier for the end-user to understand that all HTTP sites are not secure. Chrome users should now be discouraged from giving out their personal information when seeing the "not secure" tag. The company revealed that 81 out of the top 100 websites now use it as default.

According to McKenna, he was just as surprised as viewers when Timberlake took to the audience during his halftime performance . Their first encounter was during Sunday's halftime show when Timberlake ended his performance dancing through the stands.

This coming July, Google plans to crack down on sites still using HTTP connections by marking every website using such a connection method as "not secure" in the Chrome Omnibox (the address and search bars in a typical Chrome window). Similarly, more than 78 percent of Chrome traffic on Chrome OS and macOS is now protected.

Because Chrome holds something like 56 per cent of the global browser market share across mobile and desktop platforms, Google's name-and-shame label is likely to be noticed by a great many Chrome users and by any websites those fans no longer visit due to security concerns.

Over the past two years, the company has been steadily adding "Not secure" alerts to the browser to flag web pages still on HTTP. Without that encryption, anybody with access to the user's router or ISP will be able to intercept the information being sent to websites or inject malware into them.
