US House Democratic leader does not back budget caps deal -statement

Sens. Mitch Mc Connell and Chuck Schumer

The budget reportedly raises spending caps by $300 billion over two years, allocating $80 million to defense spending and $63 billion to non-defense spending for the upcoming fiscal year.

Good question. Presumably the Senate will vote on a bill of some kind, and if it passes it goes to the House.

The two-year deal doesn't include DACA protections and sets spending levels on military and domestic spending, while also adding to the ever-growing deficit, a concern that appears to have been abandoned in the name of avoiding another shutdown.

However, President Donald Trump said to bring on the shutdown if there's no deal on border security and tougher immigration measures.

The Republican summary didn't specify how long the debt limit would be suspended.

The rare bipartisan deal reached by Senate leaders on Wednesday raises spending on military and domestic programs by nearly $300 billion over the next two years.

But several Republicans said they weren't optimistic the extra defence spending could get through the Senate.

The bill will be sent to the Senate where Democrats are likely to reject or amend it and send it back to the House for another round of voting.

But there's a reason we got here.

Arsenal need to win but Tottenham must be favourites on current form

Long-term budget deal has been finalized by the major Senate leaders on Tuesday, which is a sweeping deal that could preclude the government shutdown and hit a combat on improving immigration next week.

The House of Representatives passed a short-term spending bill Tuesday night, but it has little chance of passing the Senate as written.

Lawmakers weren't eager for another shutdown.

Another temporary fix to keep the government running may be upon us.

Florida Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo, also a member of the Problem Solvers, told CNN he'd be "uncomfortable" supporting the budget deal without that commitment - and that willingness to work on the issue is not enough. The White House later said the president did not want to see a shutdown and did not expect to see specific immigration proposals included in a spending bill this week.

Three months of budget talks bore fruit Wednesday as Senate leaders announced a long term deal to increase government funding.

"I'm confident there's not going to be a government shutdown, and there shouldn't be", Sen. Democrats, like Pelosi has already shown, will assuredly use that leverage to force a commitment from Ryan and others on an immigration vote in the near future.

"The compromise we've reached will ensure that for the first time in years, our armed forces will have more of the resources they need to keep America safe", he said.

House Democrats plan to begin an annual retreat in Cambridge, Maryland, on Wednesday afternoon.
