D-Wade wasn't the only notable Cavs player that was dealt on trade deadline Thursday.

Cleveland wanted to get younger and more athletic.

ESPN reports the Cavs have traded Wade to the Heat for a heavily protected second-round pick in 2020.

After reaching a buyout with the Chicago Bulls last off-season, Wade considered the Heat among several potential destinations. Complicating things in LeBron James' uncertain future in The Land, as he has the option to test free agency in the summer. Dwyane Wade, who is one of LeBron James' best friends, might retire as a member of the Heat after this season. Wade started out in the starting lineup but soon found his niche leading the second team. Shortly thereafter, the Cavs pulled off a three-team deal, sending former league MVP Derrick Rose and swingman Jae Crowder to the Utah Jazz and shipping guard Iman Shumpert to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Sacramento's George Hill and Utah's Rodney Hood.

Older players, like Wade, were sent on their way. He's one of the top players in Heat history, and he'll now join a team that is chasing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a 29-26 record. Iman Shumpert, who was one of the key stars when the Cleveland Cavaliers won their last National Basketball Association title went to the Sacramento Kings, who have the second-worst record in the National Basketball Association.

The Cavaliers, who have been to the NBA Finals in each of the past three seasons, have underperformed so far this season and now sit in third place in the Eastern Conference.
