Cornell fraternity under fire for 'pig roast' sex contest

'Pig Roast' Cornell frat forced pledges to participate in fat shaming sex contests

A Cornell fraternity was punished with a two-year probation after members were caught hosting a disturbing sex competition they dubbed the "pig roast", the university said Tuesday.

University officials reportedly received multiple complaints about the "game" created by established Beta Tau members, which was set so that "new members could accumulate "points" by engaging in sexual intercourse with women", according to a report from The Cornell Daily Sun. A tie between members would be decided by whoever had sex with the heaviest woman. It expresses their compliance with the requirements detailed by Cornell's Fraternity and Sorority Review Board and indicates that a "full membership review" will be conducted, which may result in the expulsion of ZBT Brothers. The fraternity found out about the allegations in December, before the review board hearing.

Vice president for student and campus life Ryan Lombardi said in a statement that the fraternity's behavior was "abhorrent".

The fraternity in its statement claimed the activities described were not sanctioned by the chapter and the brothers were "not aware" they were happening, despite Zeta Beta Tau declining o outright deny said activities.

"Through this brotherhood review process if we identify individual brothers we find not committed to [social responsibility and integrity] they will be expelled from the brotherhood", the statement said.

Black Lives Matter leader shot dead
Friends and family are mourning the loss of a prominent Black Lives Matter leader from Charleston who was shot in New Orleans. The GoFundMe page has already raised double the original $7,500 target.

"Our chapter has worked closely with the Zeta Beta Tau International Headquarters to draft and execute an action plan that addresses this alleged behavior".

The terms of the probation include hiring a live-in advisor, submitting to external reviews and taking part in education on sexual violence.

IFC Executive Vice President Luke Bianco told Metro, "The members of this institution, both those who participated in this practice and those who simply stood by and did nothing, are widely recognized as problematic", stating that the IFC recognizes "the advantage in maintaining their [ZBT] chapter in order to efficiently manage the distribution of training with regards to sexual violence prevention".

"We intend to offer this programming to the entire community as we believe this is a message and area of concern that impacts the entire Cornell Community", the statement said.

RT.com has contacted both Cornell University authorities and the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity for comment regarding the allegations and subsequent investigation.
