Capcom cancels unannounced game, reduces scope of next Dead Rising

Dead Rising Game Won’t Be As Big After Layoffs

Today, from the first hour, Kotaku reported that Capcom Vancouver had undergone a restructuring and, according to a reliable source of which the name was not disclosed in order not to jeopardize his work, around 50 workers were dismissed. The studio may be best known for developing the last few games in the Dead Rising series. Development on the following Dead Rising game was apparently getting out of hand and the shape kept changing, so this was Capcom's response to keep things in line (although the studio is still understaffed).

Dead Rising 4 ditches a lot of the series traditional trappings for a more polished and focused zombie-slaying adventure.

Capcom has not officially announced a new Dead Rising game, so it sounds like we'll be waiting a while for a new entry in the series.

Russia Orders Warplanes in Syria to Fly Higher After Jet Shot Down
The Syrian government has consistently denied using chlorine or other chemical weapons during Syria's conflict. In a rare incident, A Russian Su-25 fighter jet was shot down by Syrian rebels and the pilot was killed.

A representative for Capcom Vancouver confirmed to GameSpot that a recent restructure has "impacted approximately 30% of the studio". The game was allegedly a very early prototype that had not yet been greenlit by Capcom.

There was also an unannounced game in development at Capcom Vancouver, set to be a third-person action/adventure game taking place in an alternate version of NY. Capcom Vancouver's mobile game of past year, Puzzle Fighter, will still be developed, and any other projects being worked on by the company will still be in development.

Capcom hasn't commented on the story as yet.
