Stephen Colbert on Tuesday roasted Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, who earlier in the day told a panel of senators that she did not hear Trump use the word "shithole" to describe African nations during a White House meeting about immigration last week.

Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy was questioning Nielsen about that meeting she attended where President Trump reportedly labeled Haiti and nations in Africa as "shithole" countries and said the US should be bringing people into America from Norway instead. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) asked Nielsen what the president meant when he expressed a desire for the U.S.to take in more Norwegian immigrants.

But Nielsen said the president used "tough language". He was impassioned. I think he was feeling very strongly about the issue, as was everyone in the room, and to underscore a point, I think he was using some strong language. "Graham, his strong words repeated exactly the words used by the president, which you can not remember".

Her response infuriated Booker, who said he was "seething with anger".

Two Republicans, Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Perdue of Georgia, have given shifting accounts of the meeting, first saying they didn't recall Trump using the word and then denying he did.

But Durbin was quick to defend Graham, saying he was merely repeating "exactly what the president had said".

When it was his turn to speak, Booker said he was outraged that Trump would make such comments, and angrier that Nielsen didn't speak up against those comments at the meeting.

Trump takes hard line on immigration, rejects 'horrible' bipartisan plan
Those were the words of the official White House physician, Ronny Jackson, but doubts have been raised nonetheless. Trump's only health concern, according to Jackson, is his weight of 239 pounds. "It's all about him", said Wolff.

Ingraham said Booker is "obviously" testing out language and themes for a potential 2020 presidential campaign.

Trump reportedly used the vulgar phrase to refer to Haiti, El Salvador and African countries in an immigration meeting last week.

"I did not hear that word used, no sir..."

President Donald Trump says he wants immigrants to come to the US from "everywhere", despite having said behind closed doors that he'd prefer more immigrants from countries like Norway and not Africa. "I don't have amnesia on conversations in the Oval Office going back months and months and months", Booker said. Dick Durbin who posed the questions in the committee hearing.

"Our current immigration system jeopardizes American security", the White House said in a release announcing the report.

"Mr. President, did you say that you want more people to come in from Norway?" a reporter asked. "Did Trump use this word or a substantially similar word?" The senator said he had "tears of rage" when he heard what Trump had said. "And they were not used by the president", she said.
