Former Motorstorm, Driveclub Devs Establish Wushu Studios

Wushu Studios revealed that they are working on a science fiction IP for their first game which is being prototyped on Unreal Engine 4.

Wushu Studios is a new independent game studio based in Liverpool, UK, and founded by former members of Evolution Studios (the developer behind Motorstorm and Driveclub).

Wushu Studios now has 11 staff members, with key talent coming from the development house formerly known as Evolution Studios, best known for DriveClub and the MotorStorm series.

The studio has a total of eleven people at the moment, most (or all) of whom have worked closely together in some capacity before and, as McDermott put it, "just fell straight into a groove kicking around game ideas that appealed to us as players and developers". This approach has helped us figure out which of our concepts would allow us to flex our creative muscle most.

A new game development studio was officially announced on January 15th, 2017 and it already has some big names among their ranks.

The 3 main people behind the studio are Alan McDermott (former Evolution Studios, PlayStation), design director Nigel Kershaw (former Evolution Studios, PlayStation, Deep Silver, Revolution Software), and art director Stuart Trevor (former Evolution Studios, PlayStation). McDermott was an audio director at Evolution for 11 years before working on the VR god sim Tethered in 2016.

The studio is hard at work on a prototype for their new project, since September 2017, and progress has remained positive. This might give an idea of the type of game we may be able to expect out of Wushu Studios with McDermott at the helm.

"Whilst we're open to any and all discussions that could help us realize our vision for the game, our current objective is to team up with a partner that cannot only provide additional funding for development, but that also has experience and established profile in the industry". Alex Figini, a former senior BioWare concept artist, has also collaborated with the studio on the project. We can't wait to share more in the coming weeks and months.
