Ann Curry Breaks Her Silence on Matt Lauer's 'Today Show' Allegations

King then pressed Curry as to whether she blamed Matt Lauer for her ouster at Today, a topic Curry clearly didn't want to pursue.

Former Today show anchor Ann Curry on Wednesday appeared on CBS This Morning, where she opened up about disgraced former colleague Matt Lauer and suggested that there was verbal sexual harassment during her time at NBC News.

Curry, appearing on "CBS This Morning" Wednesday in her first televised interview since the seven-time Emmy victor signed off "Today" five years ago, said the national reckoning on sexual misconduct by powerful men that has resulted in the firings of Lauer and CBS' Charlie Rose has been "long overdue". "I can tell you that I am not surprised by the allegations". "This is about power and power imbalance where women are not valued.I'm talking about people in the workplace who are abusing that power.the fact that we are moving against this imbalance of power is absolutely overdue". "And I know what its like to be publicly humiliated. I just don't want to play a part in anyone else's humiliation".

Indeed, the line is likely a reference to Curry's own troubled tenure with Lauer and the "Today" show.

"I would be surprised if many women did not understand that there was a climate of verbal harassment that existed", Curry said, later amending that to add the word "sexual".

Leahy (D-Vt.) asked Nielsen whether Trump had used the vulgarity to describe the countries "or a substantially similar word". Lindsey Graham of SC , one of the six senators in the meeting with Trump on Thursday, supported Durbin's account.

She also said she admired all women who have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, saying they "need able to thrive without fear". When asked if she believed Matt abused his power on the popular morning show, Ann was hesitant to say too much out of respect for the victims.

Curry's tearful farewell proved disastrous for "Today", leading it to lose its long-held position in first place in morning ratings.

Matt Lauer was sacked from NBC's Today in November following allegations of "inappropriate sexual behavior".

"I can tell you that I am not surprised by the allegations", she said of Lauer.

Curry also talked to People for the magazine's latest issue. "I do know that it hurt like hell, it wasnt a fun moment, Ive learned a great deal about myself", Curry said. And it's not just, obviously, about where I used to work. It's about the problem that's pervasive across industries. "It has happened to me in multiple jobs". "Its overwhelmingly women. And the idea that women are involved speaking to women is actually an overdue idea". In 2015, she left NBC News for good and is now promoting her PBS docuseries, We'll Meet Again. I'm trying not to hurt people.
