Bryan Fuller Boards Anne Rice "Vampire Chronicles" TV Series Adaptation

'Hannibal' Creator Developing 'Vampire Chronicles' TV Series

Fans have even more reason to get excited, as Hannibal and American Gods showrunner Bryan Fuller is helping the Rice family develop the series' pilot.

Bryan Fuller is trading gods for vampires.

Based on the novels of Anne Rice, the drama centers on Lestat, a French nobleman who was turned into a vampire in 18th century New Orleans.

Paramount TV optioned all 11 books a year ago, with Rice serving as an executive producer and her son, Christopher Rice, serving as the show's main writer and showrunner.

Paramount TV and Anonymous Content gained the rights to 11 books in the series in April, which started in 1976 with the publication of Interview with the Vampire. The project aims to bring the vampire Lestat's globe-trotting journey to the small screen, with a focus on providing "a prestigious, long-form, high quality and high production value" series.

Iran rejects Donald Trump's 'desperate attempt' to undermine nuclear deal
Iran warned in August that it could return "within five days" to high-level enrichment if the USA pulled out of the deal. However, the president specified it would be the last time he signs the waiver unless the deal is modified.

It's worth noting that Fuller hasn't commented on his involvement with the project, but he did recently tweet an Anne Rice quote.

Bryan Fuller is taking another juicy bite out of television. "And those producers knew that Bryan would be a flawless addition to our creative team".

Most famous among Rice's iconic Vampire novels is the series' first, Interview With the Vampire, which was adapted into a blockbuster 1994 film that starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and earned a then-unknown Kirsten Dunst a Golden Globe nomination for her turn as the pair's once-bitten, adopted vampire daughter.

In the years since that adaptation, the Twilight series and True Blood series have both proven just how effective and exciting stories of love and vampires can be, making it seem like an obvious decision to adapt more of Rice's stories. Last year, Rice announced she had regained theatrical rights to her books and was working on developing a television series for them with her son. In 2002, "Queen of the Damned" hit the big screen with Stuart Townsend assuming the iconic vampire character.
