HBO Debuts Teaser For Fahrenheit 451

Michael B. Jordan in HBO's 'Fahrenheit 451,' based on the novel by Ray Bradbury

Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes) and Amir Naderi (Vegas: Based on a True Story) adapted Ray Bradbury's bestselling novel for the screen, with Bahrani directing and executive producing.

For the Michael B. Jordan-Michael Shannon project, which is set in a society where books are illegal and are burned if discovered, the filmmakers burned actual, real books.

Fahrenheit 451 takes place in a dystopian reality set in a future America where books have been outlawed, and it's the job of "firemen" to burn any books they discover.

The film stars Michael Shannon, Michael B. Jordan and Sofia Boutella.

Are you excited for Fahrenheit 451? "I think we've been going in that direction for a long time, it's just now kind of being revealed to us more clearly". To Bahrani's mind, those concerns have actualized with the rise of social media and wikis and peoples' inclinations to just read headlines instead of full articles. "[The film] is not set in the distant future, like Bradbury's novel, but an alternate tomorrow where technology is here right now - like Amazon's Alexa", he said.

"Knowledge is risky. Every book is like a loaded gun", a quick clip of the show professes. There was no reason to put it in the future; it's just [set in] a unusual tomorrow.

"It's not hard to control what is on the internet given that things are so centralized", he said. [We] get into tweets and Wiki entries, which are shorter versions of Reader's Digest.

We could make any number of fire-based puns to usher in the intense first teaser for HBO's upcoming Fahrenheit 451 film, like "it's going to be lit", or "things are really heating up", but we'll keep it simple and say that it'll undoubtedly ignite your excitement. Readers Digest, quick short soundbites, destroying the concept of reading, thinking and knowledge, he said. That goes to what one of the things I think is different between Bradbury's novel and 1984.

"Will we actually get ahead of the dam, or will it just be a flood and up to some other generation to bring back all of Bradbury's heroes?" In the movie, it's Sofia's character who says that to Michael.
