CBFC chief shoots down report of 300 cuts in Padmavat

Movie is scheduled to release on January 25 across India

The Viacom spokesperson also said that an official announcement will be made very soon on the new release date of the film.

Meanwhile, more than 100 Shri Rajput Karni Sena workers were detained on Friday for protesting outside the CBFC office in Mumbai in connection with the release of "Padmavat". The Karni Sena has also been reportedly demanding the resignation of Prasoon Joshi, the chairman of CBFC.

Recently, the news of an official name change of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati" broke out and it is now "Padmaavat". "Padmavat" has been given a censor certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The controversy around the film Padmavat doesn't seem to be ending despite the Censor Board clearance to the film.

There have been reports that the CBFC had suggested around 300 cuts before clearing the movie.

When asked about the project's current status, PTI reported that Shahid said, "I am sure we will have clarity by the end of this year about when the film is releasing. The state government does not have a problem to screen it in the cinema halls in Goa", Parrikar said even as he added that, in case of any law and order issue, the state would look into it.

- Change the disclaimer to one that clearly does not claim historical accuracy.

Some of the key modifications suggested include those pertaining to disclaimers, pertinently adding one regarding not glorifying the practice of Sati. This Bollywood period drama is based on the epic 16th-century poem "Padmavat" by Malik Mohammed Jaisi.

Apart from this, changes have been ordered in the song "Ghoomar" to make the depiction "befitting" the character being portrayed.

The controversies around the film Padmaavat seems to have no stopping.
