U.S. could 'conceivably' stay in Paris climate pact

Trump US could ‘conceivably’ stay in Paris climate pact

"It's an important issue for us and we are committed to the Paris agreement", said the foreign leader, prompting Trump - the man who doesn't know the difference between climate and weather - to add the USA could "go back" into the climate deal.

While taking questions during a press conference on Wednesday, Donald Trump took an aggressive stance on the current Russian investigation.

After the USA withdrew from the Paris climate agreement, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg made clear her disagreement. Solberg is now visiting the United States to discuss foreign relations between Norway and the USA and it is the third meeting between herself and Trump.

Trump's meeting with Solberg was the first foreign leader visit with the president in 2018.

The probe has resulted in charges against four of Mr. Trump's campaign aides, including former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty in December to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is cooperating with prosecutors.

"The discussion you've had in the United States has, of course, lifted this issue in all European countries", Solberg said Wednesday in an interview with The Washington Post. "That means that we have very strong policies for environmental-friendly and climate-friendly technology".

He called Norway "a good customer, ally and friend" before the two began their meeting, referring in some detail to Norway's largest-ever purchase of US-made F35 fighter jets.

Encouraged by generous government tax credits, about one-third of Norwegians drive zero-emission electric cars - many of them American-made Teslas. "I hope we do", Trump said.

"It's a Democrat hoax that was brought up as an excuse for losing an election", Trump said. He went on to thank the Prime Minister for troop and humanitarian assistance in the fight against terrorism and ISIS.

The discrepancy between what Trump said then and what he's saying now was encapsulated by a USA Today breaking news alert above a report about Trump's comments last June. He called the economies of both the USA and Norway "robust and growing", and thanked Norway for its "commitment to fair and reciprocal trade", stressing the word "reciprocal" because "it benefits us all".

Solberg said the US was Norway's "closest ally inside NATO" and noted her country's investments in the USA, which she said supported 470,000 U.S.jobs. They touched on tensions with Russian Federation as well.
