Ford is latest to be sued over Diesel Truck Emissions

For representational purposes

According to a lawsuit filed by truck owners Wednesday, Ford Motor installed emissions-cheating software in its F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks to ensure they passed federal tests in the US.

Neither Ford nor Bosch have reacted to the accusations. Owners are seeking damages for what they say are 58 'violations of state consumer law, false advertising and racketeering'.

It adding that "Ford did not act alone", but colluded with Bosch in an organised scheme to evade emissions requirements, for sake of profit. This allowed Ford to market both fuel efficiency and power in its vehicles without compromise. In the case of Volkswagen it was often referred to as "Dieselgate". The global retaliation for the use of so-called "cheat devices" started with Volkswagen in 2015, and since then, at least another four automakers - including Ford - have been accused in the U.S. of using similar tricks to pass emissions testing, while emitting pollutants in quantities that are many times what is legally allowed. Ford Motor Company is now facing a class-action lawsuit from customers who feel entitled to some sort of recompense from the automaker. That's 4 mpg better than the current most efficient gasoline-powered F-150.

The lawsuit could pose a risk to Ford's plans to introduce a diesel engine in its smaller F-150 pickup for the first time.

The F-150 Power Stroke diesel shares quite a bit with its big sister Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke, including a lot of engine technology and the very same Ford powertrain team.

US Senator Questions Apple Over iPhone Slowdown Controversy
We've now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future. In essence, the more a phone's battery was damaged, the slower it would perform in order to conserve battery power.

In 2011, Ford embarked on a marketing campaign that promised "class leading fuel economy and towing capacity" tested more rigorously than its competitors.

The lawsuit could cast some doubt on Ford's claims. The diesel engine won't be the last option coming soon to the F-150: the automaker has already confirmed that a seventh, a hybrid powertrain, is on the way.

Hagens Berman has launched lawsuits in the a year ago against General Motors and Fiat Chrysler as well as engine maker Cummins, making similar allegations.

"The unbeatable pulling power of a diesel engine makes it the flawless match for the iconic F-150 pickup, something F-Series fans in the USA are about to discover for themselves", said Stephen Gill, director, Powertrain Engineering, Ford of Europe.
