Sensex hits 34000 for the first time ever

In the opening session, the Sensex hit 34,000 for the first time and the Nifty 10,515 on the back of buying by funds in realty, metal and healthcare. The 30-share index crossed the 34,000-mark by jumping 65.07 points or 0.19 % to 34,005.37, said reports.

Stock markets opened at record high on Tuesday amidst strong show of Oil and banking stocks.

At 15:32 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 70.31 points or 0.21% at 34010.61, and the Nifty up 38.50 points or 0.37% at 10531.50. Sensex was down by over 18 points or 0.06% to 33,921.42 while the wider Nifty was down by over 8 points or 0.08% to 10,484.60.
