Three takeaways from the Rams' dismantling of Seahawks

Sammy Watkins on Seahawks'We knew this team wasn't better than

The Seattle Seahawks found themselves on the wrong end of Sunday's NFC West battle with the Los Angeles Rams, and then in an friendly-fire war of words.

The Seahawks weren't simply beaten. The linebacker exited the game after the Rams' final touchdown of the day. "We came in here and took advantage of that today".

While the Seahawks don't look playoff ready, the Rams look playoff scary, dominating the line of scrimmage and taking advantage of their first-half opportunities.

Battered by key injuries, the Seahawks needed their stars to show up, yet they became part of the problem. His lone touchdown pass came on a 26-yard pass to Luke Wilson when the Rams were already up by 40 points.

Wilson was 14 of 30 for 142 yards and rushed for 39 yards. He fumbled trying to spin out of a sack and threw a backward pass that lost 23 yards trying to avoid another.

Wilson was sacked a whopping 7 times in this game and the Seahawks offense was unable to get anything going, as the Rams controlled this game from start to finish.

BAD RUSS: The stats say Wilson had a pedestrian game, but he made mistakes early that proved costly. That was the case for the Rams, who had six possessions in the first half start at midfield or inside Seattle territory.

A trip to Dallas is next up for Seattle, and here's one of many reminders you'll hear this week that Ezekiel Elliott will be back for the Cowboys.

The Seahawks beleaguered defense was constantly faced with defending a short field and couldn't stop the Rams from getting points. They lead the Seahawks by two games in the NFC West with only two games remaining, their chances of at least hosting one playoff game now probable.

Gurley also did damage in the secondary as he caught three passes for 28 yards and a touchdown, giving the All-Pro running back a total of four touchdowns in arguably the biggest game of the season for Los Angeles.

Free safety Earl Thomas and middle linebacker Bobby Wagner don't appear to be happy with each other. Thanks to their defense, which held the Seahawks to 59 yards on their first 27 plays, and, who picked up 109 yards on his first four punt returns, the Rams began five first-half drives within enemy territory and went into the locker room with a 34-0 lead.

"To be totally honest, I think you have to give your hats off to Wags and a couple guys that played, but my personal opinion, I don't think they should have played", Thomas said. It started when Thomas told reporters after the game that Wagner shouldn't have played on his injured hamstring because the backups would've been just as effective.

He was quick to respond to Thomas' comments via Twitter. "The injuries, Kam, Sherm, K.J., it definitely hurt today".
