Kentucky lawmaker facing assault allegations kills himself

Bullitt County Coroner David Billings said Johnson was found with a single gunshot wound to the head at Greenwell Ford Road in Mount Washington. The lawmaker is said to have driven to the bridge on the Salt River on Wednesday, December 13, and shot himself in front of his vehicle.

"The people who run for office are just people, and there are no ideal people", said State Rep. Dan Johnson as he spoke to the media Tuesday morning from his Heart of Fire Church.

Speaking of Johnson's death Senator Rand Paul tweeted: "Just bad news from Kentucky tonight on the passing of Rep. Dan Johnson. Over the past few weeks in some of the darkest days of my life, he reached out to me, encouraged me, and prayed for me", Hoover posted on his Twitter account Wednesday night.
