Nigeria fined by Federation Internationale de Football Association for fielding ineligible Player in Algeria Clash

NFF reacts to FIFA sanction as FIFA award Super Eagles' match to Algeria

Federation Internationale de Football Association has punished Nigeria for using an ineligible player in their final World Cup qualifier against Algeria in November.

The sanction relates to Abdullahi failing to serve the automatic one-match suspension imposed on him as a result of receiving a caution in two separate matches of the same competition.

The result has been overturned and Algeria awarded a 3-0 win but the sanction does not affect Nigeria's World Cup qualification as they had already clinched a place in Russian Federation.

The match in Constantine originally ended in a 1-1 draw but that has now been overturned and Algeria awarded a 3-0 win.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nigeria, His Excellency Nikolay Udovichenko says he is looking forward to Nigeria and Russia clashing in the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Sunday, 15th July 2018.

United Kingdom city of York rejects Uber's licence renewal, cites data breach concerns
Uber Britannia Limited can lodge an appeal with the Magistrates' Court over the latest decision by York Council. No doubt the company will file an appeal before the year is up, like it did in both London and Sheffield.

"Following the recent meeting of the Disciplinary Committee, FIFA can today (Tuesday) confirm the latest sanctions imposed for incidents that occurred during the preliminary competition for the FIFA World Cup as well as in worldwide friendlies".

Reacting to the sanction, Onigbinde who led the Super Eagles to the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan, placed all the blame on the NFF. Federation Internationale de Football Association sent an email to the technical officer in charge, that Shehu Abdullahi was suspended for the Algeria match.

The committee, chaired by Goni Lawan Bukar (APC, Yobe) had earlier commended the NFF leadership under its president, Amanju Pinnick for bringing sanity to the Nigerian football. Shehu then received a yellow against Zambia in our penultimate game, two years after the Swaziland match. "The NFF was also fined the sum of 6,000 Swiss Francs".

"It was a lack of due diligence in and by one of our departments and we are ensuring that errors like these never happen again".
