Giants Expect Giancarlo Stanton Decision This Week; Dodgers Biggest Threat

Giants Feel Stanton Meeting Went Well But They Continue to Wait

In short, the Giants and Marlins have done the easy part - agreeing with each other.

The Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and maybe even the Los Angeles Dodgers are considered the most likely destinations for Stanton. This means that it wouldn't make sense for a team to take on the entire contract as well as include top prospects.

Miami's motivation for shopping Stanton is, of course, the $295 million he has left on the 13-year, $325 million contract he originally signed in November of 2014. Stanton would necessarily make any team better, but the Dodgers don't have to have him in order to be the favorites in the NL West.

Dan Quinn wants "loud and fun" crowd on Thursday night
On Sunday, Kamara became only the third rookie runner to join the 600-600 club for rushing and receiving yards in a single season. He leads the team with four touchdown catches and his 11 total touchdowns are tied with Todd Gurley for the most in the NFL .

At least three teams - and countless outside observers - are awaiting word on whether Giancarlo Stanton will waive his no-trade clause to go to the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals or neither. Until he decides to come off his geographical preference, or the Dodgers announce they aren't interested in him at the Marlins' adjusted price tag, or he just decides he'd rather stay in Miami and try again next year, that's where the issue resides. The upshot is that taking on a contract like Stanton's would make it hard for them to get under the threshold. Nearly all of them have revolved around the Giants, Cardinals, and Dodgers and the likelihood of each team acquiring the Miami slugger.

Pavolvic aslo notes that the Giants view the Dodgers as their biggest threat to the trade for the National League MVP, not the Cardinals, who have been pursuing Stanton as well. Stanton reportedly has no interest playing in St. Louis. If Stanton doesn't want San Francisco, they have other fish they need to fry, because standing pat with the worst power-hitting team in the game isn't going to play well.
