Police fatally shoot machete-wielding man in the Bronx Tuesday morning

They were confronted by a man with the machete-type knife.

The officers ordered the man, who has not yet been identified, to drop the knife, Monahan said, but the man did not comply.

The warrant was apparently obtained to search for guns and drugs in the apartment. When he repeatedly refused to drop the weapon, police shot him once in the chest, according to NYPD Chief of Patrol Terence Monahan. He said this is known as a no-knock search warrant and can be unsafe because of the uncertainty. "The officers immediately called for an ambulance and rendered aid". No officers were injured, the police said.
