Highlights from Seahawks prime-time 24-10 victory over Eagles

Carson Wentz Philadelphia Eagles

After struggling in the first half, Philadelphia came alive on offense but it was a too little too late as they suffered their second loss of the season by a score of 24 - 10. He and his staff are more aware of the challenge trends than I'll ever be, and I think they need to show some better situational awareness there.

The Eagles trailed 17-3 early in the fourth quarter when Wentz briefly brought the team back into contention. It was the first first-quarter touchdown allowed by the Eagles this season.

Bobby Wagner also was everywhere in keying a run defense that held the Eagles to just 98 yards rushing. That stagnant passing attack and a pile of penalties sent them into halftime with a seven-point deficit, and Wentz's fumble near the goal line early in the third quarter dulled a small semblance of momentum.

He burst up the middle on a keeper from the 6-yard line, but the ball popped loose just before he hit the ground at the 1-yard line.

Entering the game, Ertz ranked first among NFC tight ends in receptions (55) and yards (639). It trickled out of the back for a touchback. It was a major turning point, as Seattle went 80 yards in 11 plays, capped by Wilson's 1-yard pass to Lockett for a 17-3 Seattle lead.

The biggest of them was one of those back-breakers that Wilson has made a specialty throughout his career, Wentz weaving his way through traffic in a deteriorating pocket and keeping his eyes downfield long enough to spot Nelson Agholor getting a couple of steps ahead of his man on the back side of the play. They also fell behind Kansas City by 14 during a 27-20 loss on September 17.

Perhaps intimidated by Seattle's track record under Carroll, Eagle coach Doug Pederson didn't coach with his typical aggression. On fourth-and-2, Pederson opted to go for the first down, but Wentz's pass toward running back Kenjon Barner fell incomplete.

At 5-7 in the up-in-the-air AFC, the Jets play at Denver and New Orleans before hosting San Diego and finishing up in Foxborough. Kelce accounted for 54 of those yards on two catches, the latter coming in the form of a 22-yard scoring reception from Smith.

The Seahawks quarterback crushed it for his offense, throwing three touchdowns on the night against a stout Eagles defense to lead his team to the win. They also fell behind Washington 3-0 on October 23 before rallying for a 34-24 victory.

The Eagles are still 10-2. Doug Baldwin was ridiculous as always, catching five passes for 84 yards.

Seattle got on the board first with the opening possession of the game, looking good as it drove down the field to set up a reassuring 46-yard field goal from Blair Walsh.

No one will want to hear this, but even if this season ultimately ends up in disappointment, the Eagles have the structure in place to sustain their success over multiple seasons. After a long throw down the field almost resulted in a touchdown for Doug Baldwin, the Seahawks punched it in from the one-yard line and took a commanding lead late in the third quarter.

Another penalty cost them a possible touchdown in the second quarter.

But it was in the second quarter when Wilson truly showed his command of the game, as the Eagles dared to call an all-out blitz.
