Crocodile Spotted on Hollywood Beach

November 20, 2017: A 6-foot crocodile rests along Hollywood Beach near the Dania Beach pier in Hollywood, Fla. Levy joked, referring to the next city south, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers responded to the scene as Beach Safety officials kept beachgoers and onlookers away from the animal. They then pulled it out of the water and on the beach. They live in saltwater areas, but occasionally end up in freshwater areas of southeast Florida when moving through the canal system.

The American crocodile - which is listed as an endangered species in the US and the State of Florida - lives in coastal areas throughout the Caribbean with the northern end of their range in South Florida.

A crocodile was spotted on a beach in Hollywood, Florida on Monday morning. They have occasionally been spotted in coastal cities and have rarely attacked humans in the USA, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Authorities did not say what will happen to the now captured crocodile.
