North Atlantic Treaty Organisation apologises to Turkey for targeting Erdogan and Ataturk in training exercise

The incident occurred earlier this week, after the names of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan as well as the late Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk were included in an enemy list on a poster at the drills.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg issued a statement saying that he apologizes for the offense that has been caused.

Erdogan said that Ankara had withdrawn its 40 troops from the exercise in protest, adding: "It's not possible to have this kind of alliance".

"They said "this has happened. and we are going to take out our 40 soldiers", Erdogan said while speaking in front of giant pictures of himself and Ataturk.

"The individual in question was immediately removed from the exercise by the Joint Warfare Center, and an investigation is underway".
