Who Is Jody Warner? Drunken Prosecutor Fired After Abusing, Threatening Uber Driver

Jody Warner

An Uber driver in Texas claims a Dallas prosecutor threatened to accuse him of kidnapping her during a drunken rant, telling him: "Who are they going to believe?"

The Dallas County District Attorney chose to fire Jody Warner, 32, who had been assigned to the crimes against children division, after media reports featuring an audio recording captured highlighted Warner's alleged abuse of an Uber driver who picked her up from an East Dallas pub. Oh my God, you're an idiot.

The woman brings up her job, saying, "Everything's being recorded". So do you want to take me home or do you want to stay here?

The 26-year-old driver told the Dallas Morning News that an argument had sparked between him and Warner when she told Platt to change his GPS-directed route and he got lost.

In a statement to ABC, Warner denied hitting Platt, but expressed regret over the incident.

'I'm an assistant district attorney so shut the [expletive] up, ' Warner is heard saying.

Platt alleged that Warner seemed to get angrier on the ride and things escalated after he got lost when she told him to follow a route that was different from the Global Positioning System directions.

Cpl. DeMarquis Black, a spokesman for the Dallas Police Department, said the agency has contacted the district attorney's office and is investigating the incident.

"Ma'am I ended the ride and I asked you politely to exit the vehicle".

Warner: No, because now I'm pissed the **** off! "I'm a district attorney", the ride-sharing driver quoted Warner as saying. "I can tell you that not everything he said was true, I never touched him". "I don't believe the DA's office has all the facts", Frizell said. "What a joke. I'll make sure Uber knows what a [expletive] joke you are".

The officer returned and Platt said he was afraid of being arrested. "I'm used to dealing with drunk passengers on a consistent basis", Platt said.

The Dallas District Attorney released a statement regarding Warner's termination, calling her behavior "contrary to this office's core principle of integrity, and it will not be tolerated".

"I think this might be kidnapping right now, actually", she said. That was not my intent.

Platt felt Warner just could not "treat people like that" but said he forgave her. "It was unacceptable, and no one deserves to be called names". "Whether it's because of my experience as a prosecutor made me hyper-vigilant or whether I was justifiably uncomfortable, I can't tell you that. I wanted the cops to show up so they could do something about it", Platt said.

In a press conference in Dallas on Tuesday, a teary-eyed Warner spoke to reporters and apologized for her language.

After alleged continued name-calling and yelling by Ms Warner, the situation took an unexpected turn when she accused him of kidnapping her by refusing to take her home.

A day after her six-year career with the Dallas County DA's office came to an end, Warner joined fellow attorney Pete Schulte and Judge Elizabeth Frizell, who is challenging Johnson's DA position in an upcoming election, on the steps of the Dallas County Courthouse.
