Hate crime reports up nationally, Pittsburgh remains the same

It represented a 4.6 percent increase over the previous year's totals.

Anti-transgender hate crime jumped by 44 percent, anti-Arab incidents surged by 38 percent, anti-Muslim hate crime rose 19.5 percent, anti-white hate crime increased 17.5 percent, and anti-Latino hate-motivated incidents jumped by 15 percent.

According to The Huffington Post, the Federal Bureau of Investigation report is the most complete information on hate crimes in the divisive election year 2016, and supports data from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which documented a wave of such events in months after elections.

Pittsburgh Police have noted that hate-motivated vandalism doesn't always get charged or reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the state's statute covering "ethnic intimidation", which covers acts that victimize a person or property based on race, color, religion or national origin.

The incidents were reported by almost 16,000 law enforcement agencies and affected a total of 7,615 victims.

"There's a unsafe disconnect between the rising problem of hate crimes and the lack of credible data being reported", said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, CEO of the New York-based Anti-Defamation League. Of those crimes, the majority were crimes with an anti-gay male bias.

Hudaibya Paper Mills case: Justice Khosa recuses himself from bench
The case started in March 2000 when the NAB authorities moved a reference against Hudaibiya Papers Mills. He said that the Registrar office might have not read my verdict.

The latest overall figure included sharper spikes in hate crimes targeting several minority groups.

The findings are consistent with a February report by a civil rights group that found the number of anti-Muslim hate groups in the country had increased over the past year.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the Justice Department is now engaging with state and local leaders and to find ways to better prevent and prosecute hate crimes.

"The Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that individuals can live without fear of being a victim of violent crime based on who they are, what they believe, or how they worship", Mr. Sessions said. More than half of the religious-related crimes, the statistics show, were anti-Jewish, while a quarter were anti-Muslim.

Incidents targeting Jews increased from 664 incidents in 2015 to 684 incidents in 2016.

The yearly report is the most comprehensive accounting of hate crimes in the U.S. But authorities have long warned it is incomplete, in part because it is based on voluntary reporting by police agencies across the country.
