Activision Convinced Sledgehammer To Make Call Of Duty: WWII

Call of Duty | 4 hours

Call of Duty: WWII was meant to be a return to form for publisher Activision's flagship game franchise but its launch has been marred with errors and rampant server issues.

You can read Sledgehammer's update post here detailing their response to the server issues.

Following the introduction of an update last week that caused some online issues, Sledgehammer shifted the game off its dedicated servers and to a P2P setup (where gamers connect straight to one another, as opposed to all communicating with a separate server). As a result, the developers migrated online play to peer-to-peer (P2P) servers in an effort to provide a more stable experience.

Dedicated Servers - This weekend we rolled out various test solutions in limited markets in order to fully analyze real-world conditions without risking disruption. "We'll watch this test closely, and once we analyse the results we'll look to expand". This results in lost progress towards challenges and lost XP. Sledgehammer Games explains, "HQ is best enjoyed with a thriving, fully populated social community interacting together".

"This is only the beginning, so thank you for playing", Sledgehammer added. It was an odd move but it had to be done to due to some adverse effects introduced by Call of Duty WW2's latest Game Update. So hang in there while we address the most pressing concerns first. However, the new connectivity issues started last week when the studio pushed a new update that "solved several critical needs". Are you psyched about going back to boots on the ground combat?

Call of Duty WW2 was released on November 3rd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Despite the first major patch for the game, players are still experiencing online connectivity issues and the Headquarters social space isn't working as intended.

Sledgehammer Games says that their first priority is returning to dedicated servers.
