Mobile cuts LTE roaming in Canada and Mexico to 5GB

T mobile 5gb LTE cap

T-Mobile ONE Plus plan holders will see their data speeds slowed to 256Kbps, while T-Mobile ONE subs will have their speeds slowed all the way down to just 128Kbps.

On November 12, T-Mobile will be adjusting the initial Mobile without Borders offer so that customers will only have access to 5GB of LTE data when traveling overseas in Mexico or Canada.

T-Mobile subscribers on ONE Plus, Simple Choice and Legacy plans will be affected by the change of plans.

The carrier explained that it is making this change "in order to prevent usage beyond the intent of the product" - that is, it intended customers to have access to the high-speed data they needed while in Canada and Mexico, but apparently didn't want them using too much of it...too much in this case being defined as 5GB. Instead, subscribers will get just 5GB of guaranteed full-speed LTE data before their data speeds are throttled.

Supreme Court refuses to relax ban on crackers during Diwali
The bench also said that people would burst firecrackers which they have purchased before the October 9 order . This order has been upheld by the court in its entirety but would be effective post Diwali .

One of T-Mobile's big "uncarrier" moves was to offer global roaming data to most customers for free.

This change is to "prevent usage beyond the intent of the product". Once that date arrives, T-Mobile will cap the amount of high-speed mobile data its customers can use while in either of those countries. While 5GB is a healthy amount for a short trip, it's still going to change your behavior - you may end up using hotel WiFi when you can instead of relying exclusively on cellular data. "After 5GB of high-speed data is used in Mexico and Canada (or your high-speed data allotment is reached, whichever comes first), customers will stay connected with unlimited data at Simple Global speeds (up to 128kbps for most plans or 256kbps with T-Mobile ONE Plus)". Those on a lower plan will get a lower data limit. 12, the company will put a 5GB limit on 4G data and speed will be reduced thereafter.

The reason for this downgrade in data availability, according to Engadget, is that T-Mobile needs to pay heavy roaming costs in these countries.

"You will now not be able to use your Data Stash in Canada and Mexico".
