Drivers cheat death when vehicle plunges seven stories onto SUV

A screen grab from security camera footage shows the moment a BMW car slams into the ground just missing an SUV after

William Burch had just pulled into the bottom floor of the parking garage in Austin, Texas, when a BMW vehicle falls from the sky.

The video shows a large Chevrolet SUV patiently doing a three-point-turn in the Littlefield parking lot in Austin when, all of a sudden, a vehicle crashes down from above.

The BMW came to rest upside down on its roof.

GTT Parking, the garage's owner, said a similar incident happened in September 2016 in the same garage, but on a different floor in which no one was hurt.

Burch, who had his window down, had just pulled a U-turn at the entrance of Littlefield Garage July 13 and was driving away when he suddenly heard a noise and braked, he told KXAN.

The BMW driver sustained serious injuries and the driver of the Tahoe was uninjured.

'So I just immediately just put it in drive and started driving forward and as I started driving forward, the auto landed on me'. Authorities said the woman was seriously injured. The driver managed to escape with the help of a bystander.

The parking garage at 508 Brazos Street in downtown Austin features a cable guardrail system instead of the usual concrete walls to keep cars from flying off the edge on the back alley side.
