US Lifts Laptop Ban on All Airlines

DHS Chief: US Tested Prototype Terrorist Bombs Before Implementing New Aviation Security Rules

The US Department of Homeland Security's controversial "laptop ban" on US-bound flights from ten Muslim-majority countries has been terminated.

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told a US security conference Wednesday that experts carried out such a test.

Travelers flying to the USA are now encountering enhanced screenings of large electronic devices.

"Having been around explosives all my life, the device as described to me had an amount of explosive on it that I just did not believe could destroy an airplane in flight", said Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general. Officials said the measures were aimed at ending a limited in-cabin ban on laptops that had targeted nine airlines, and preventing an expansion of that ban to additional airports in Europe and elsewhere.

Sri Lankan government has approved the sale of 70% stake in Hambantota port to China's Merchants Port Holding Co for ₹10000 crore. Speaking at the occasion, Minister Samarasinghe stated that the signed agreement will be once again presented to the cabinet.

Officials at Homeland Security have said they want to improve the overall level of aviation security around the globe. The requirements affect 2,000 commercial flights a day from 280 airports.

After a four month ban, game developers and other professionals traveling to the US from a number of Middle-Eastern countries will once again have access to their electronics for the duration of their global flight.

A few of the airlines took the ban in stride, sharing ways to get around the ban as well as jokes meant to lighten the mood for irritated travelers. And Secretary Kelly says terror organizations will continue to try to beat any new security measures that are put in place.

SCHAPER: For now, though, parents don't have to worry about taking long overseas flights without being able to occupy their kids with games and videos on laptops and tablets.
