MLB Rumors: Red Sox Acquire Infielder Eduardo Nunez From Giants

MLB trade news: San Francisco Giants trade Eduardo Nunez to the Red Sox

The Red Sox now rank second-to-last in WAR (-0.8) according to FanGraphs at third base, and are far and away worst offensively at the position this season (a.589 OPS and 53 wRC+).

Nunez, who has been the subject of trade rumors ever since the Giants fell out of contention, was dealt to the Boston Red Sox in the fifth inning of San Francisco's lopsided game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at AT&T Park.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported the Giants would receive a pair of pitching prospects in return. This season he is hitting.307 with four home runs and 29 RBIs.

This trade was hardly a surprise, as Boston's interest in Nunez has been well-documented in recent weeks due to their brutal production from the third base position this year.

Google promises 11 Daydream VR phones by the end of the year
Specifically, the Pixel , Pixel XL , Moto Z , Huawei Mate 9 Pro , Porsche Design Mate 9 and ZTE's Axon 7 are compatible with the platform.

Nunez has been one of the few bright spots in the midst of a hard season for the Giants.

Nunez, of course, is no stranger to packing his bags near the trade deadline.

The 30-year-old had been acquired by the Giants last July 28 from the Minnesota Twins for left-handed pitcher Adalberto Mejia. Nunez helped solidify San Francisco's hot corner situation down the stretch of last season, but the team ultimately came up short in the playoffs.
